October 2012 Update

Our October 2012 progress report is posted.

Community Meetings on HLC Criteria

Students, faculty, and staff have been invited to contribute their perspectives on how Wooster is meeting the Higher Learning Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation and to suggest additional elements of “evidence” the working groups should seek and consider.  The Steering Committee  sponsored a series of “community meetings,” each focusing on one of the criteria, throughout the 2011-12 academic year.

Sustaining our Momentum: Self-Study 2011-13

As an institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC), Wooster’s accreditation status is reaffirmed every ten years.  Our next reaffirmation will occur in late Spring 2013.  In preparation, we have begun a process of self-study which will last through late fall 2012.

Our self-study has two objectives: to demonstrate to the HLC that Wooster fulfills the Commission’s “Criteria for Accreditation” and to advance our strategic objective of “Sustaining our Momentum for the Long Term.”   Our strategic planning work for 2011-12 will focus on commencing “the Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation self-study, a comprehensive assessment process that will have us prove that we are advancing our mission, that we are true to our core values, and that we are achieving our strategic objectives by demonstrating how we meet the Commission’s criteria for accreditation. ”  In this process, we will consider every aspect of Wooster, engaging students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, parents, and the broader community in the process.

This is our website.  We will post updates on our progress, as well as information about the self-study process.  And occasionally, we might blog a bit about the experience, or tweet.

To everyone who is, or will be, working on the project,  our thanks.
